Carly and Justin met during freshman orientation mixer at Georgia Tech. During an introduction game, Carly said she was “Carly from California.” A few days later, she sat down near him in chemistry class, and remembering her name, he struck up a conversation.
Justin said he could tell how focused she was, and he soon began to learn that the two had similar values and principles.
“When first talking to him, I could tell how smart he was and how hard working toward things he was passionate about,” said Carly. “What a great first impression because these qualities still hold true today.”
As the two spent time together, the began to see a future together.
” I knew she was the ONE because she was the first girl that I saw myself in,” Justin said. “I could see reflected in her the things I valued.”
Carly said she knew when the two ended up taking close to an 8-mile walk one night, and their conversation just flowed.
“It seems so effortless,” she said. “And I realized that night that although we grew up differently, we shared values and a similar approach to life.
Carly knew that when they got engaged she wanted it to be a surprise, which wouldn’t be easy. Like many women, she’s good at knowing when something is up.
“To say I was surprised would be an understatement!” she said.
Justin proposed less than two days after the ring arrived.
“We were playing golf and I asked her to use the range finder to find the distance to the hole. While she was occupied with that, I got the ring out and got down on one knee,” Justin said.
The beautiful ring has a gorgeous diamond center stone, set on a band of diamonds.
Justin said he admires how persistent and ambitious Carly is. “She’s very smart … and she’s pretty,” Justin said.
Carly said Justin is kind-hearted and honest, ambitious and driven, patient and understanding.
The two are both engineers.
“It’s nice that we can understand each other’s work and have conversations around nerdy topics,” Carly said. The two love taking rides in Justin’s Corvette, playing golf and going on walks. “We always seem to have something we can talk about!”
