Whether you’re in town for wedding planning or slipping away to Savannah for a romantic getaway, photographing couples in love is something I genuinely love.
Your engagement session is more than a photoshoot. It’s a time to slow down, connect, and experience what it feels like to be photographed together before your wedding day.
This guide is designed to help you feel prepared and at ease. Inside, you’ll find location ideas, styling guidance, and a glimpse into what to expect—so you can arrive relaxed, connected, and ready to enjoy the experience.
I’ll offer direction when it’s helpful, then step back and allow space for real moments to unfold.
The resulting images feel natural and refined—romantic without being forced, editorial without losing warmth. Photographs that don’t just show what you look like, but who you are together in this season of your lives.
Savannah is magical at every turn, with many beautiful locations for engagement photos, from Forsyth Park's iconic fountains to river bluffs and quiet beaches to Wormsloe's epic avenue of oaks.
I help couples choose engagement session locations in Savannah that feel meaningful and photograph beautifully. Whether we stay within Savannah’s historic district or venture toward the coast, I’ll guide you toward settings that photograph beautifully and feel authentic to your story.
Forsyth Park, with it's iconic white fountain, is the crown jewel of Savannah's grid of park-like "squares" throughout the historic district. Forsyth Park also features gorgeous oak-shaded lawns and the white-columned Fragrant Garden.
Surrounding the park is the famed residential part of the historic district, including Jones Street, which has been called the prettiest street in America. Nearby squares feature smaller fountains and a beautiful white gazebo.
The northern end of the historic district offers such beautifully, diverse settings: River Street, of course, with the riverboats and ferries, the cobblestones and pedestrian bridges of Factor's Walk, shady Emmet Park, and the historic architecture of gold-domed City Hall and the columned Chamber of Commerce and the Customs House.
The more than mile-long avenue of moss-draped oak trees of Wormsloe, settled as a colonial estate in the early 1700s, is a popular spot for engagement photos. I find every part of the vast property, from the arched entry gate to the low-hanging branches of trees at the far end of the avenue, to be exquisite and epic. The site is a 15-minute drive from the historic district.
Please note that the site is open from 9 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. The site charges a $10 entry fee per person, and you'll also need to pay their $25 professional photography fee. I also LOVE shooting at nearby Bluff Drive, which I think is the prettiest street in Savannah, truly a hidden gem.
Tybee Island, a 20-minute drive from the historic district, is Savannah's beach. It's a fun, quirky little beach town with a few secret spots that I love for engagement photos. On the very southern tip of the island, you can experience the most glorious sunsets.
I've shot sessions in Charleston and Hilton Head Island, South Carolina., Athens, St. Simons, Jekyll and Sea Islands, Georgia, and beyond.
If you have a location in mind that is significant to the two of you, let me know because if our schedules align, we might be able to take your engagement photos outside of our normal area.
Travel fees may apply depending on the location and our availability.
I recommend refined, comfortable clothing that allows you to move naturally and feel like yourselves.
Soft neutrals, flowing fabrics and tailored silhouettes photograph beautifully in Savannah’s light. When you feel confident and at ease, it shows in every frame.
What to Expect on session day
Engagement sessions are relaxed and unhurried. We’ll move slowly, follow the light, and allow moments to happen naturally.
I'll use gentle prompts that encourage interaction and connection. Most couples tell me they quickly forget about the camera and simply enjoy the experience—resulting in engagement photos that feel authentic and emotionally rich.
My assistant will prompt you to schedule a call or Zoom before your session. I'll provide more details about what to expect and answer any questions you may have.
Many of my engagement sessions are for couples traveling to Savannah. I’m happy to help plan timing, locations, and flow to make the most of your visit.
These sessions often serve as the foundation for save-the-dates and wedding websites.
Most couples schedule engagement sessions 6–10 months before their wedding, often before sending save-the-dates. If you’re traveling to Savannah, I recommend reaching out once your dates are confirmed.
Many women choose to do their hair and make-up wedding trial right before their session. It gives you great insight into how your look will photograph on the big day.

Savannah Engagement FAQ
What are your favorite Savannah engagement session locations?
Most engagement sessions last about 60–90 minutes. This allows time to settle in, move between locations if desired, do an outfit change, and photograph in the most flattering light, all without feeling rushed.
One thoughtfully chosen outfit is usually perfect. If you’d like a second look, I recommend keeping it simple and cohesive—perhaps one more relaxed option alongside something elevated and refined.
Yes, absolutely. Pets and personal details are always welcome, especially if they’re an important part of your story. I’m happy to help plan so everything feels easy and enjoyable, whether you need a dog handler/helper or want to take photos in a historic mansion or your favorite bar.

Early morning or the hour leading up to sunset - my favorite - offers the most beautiful, flattering light. I’ll guide you toward the best timing based on season, location, and overall feel you’re drawn to.

Yes. While Savannah is home, I also photograph engagement sessions throughout Charleston, Bluffton, Sea Island, St. Simons Island, Atlanta and beyond. Destination sessions are always welcome.
Savannah weather can be unpredictable, especially in warmer months. I monitor conditions closely and will reach out if adjustments are needed. Flexibility and a calm approach go a long way—and sometimes unexpected weather creates the most beautiful images.
