Nina and Austin hosted a gorgeous, emotion-filled wedding at the Tybee Island Wedding Chapel on the perfect spring day.
The chapel was originally constructed on Tybee as a movie set during the filming of The Last Song. More than a decade ago, when Nina was visiting her aunt, who lives on Tybee, she saw the chapel being constructed. She even met the movie’s star, Miley Cyrus.
When she and Austin were planning their wedding, they knew they would say their vows in that chapel, which the stayed on the island and was converted into a beautiful wedding venue.
Among the sweetest moments of the day were Nina’s first looks with her father and step-father, who both walked her down the aisle. And the first dances which Nina’s dads and Austin’s mom. Yes the wedding is about the bride and groom, but there is so much emotion as parents place their children in the hands of the one they love.
After the ceremony, we dashed to the beach for photos. On the way over, the couple closely inspected their wedding rings. They had them engraved as a gift to each other. Nina engraved “You’re my whole world” on Austin’s, and he engraved “My forever taco date” on hers!
And then the dance party began, honey! I overheard some of the wedding planning team asking what time to return for tear down/clean up. “Should we come early?” No, said the planner. This is a FUN crew! And indeed they danced HARD until the last song.
P.S. When Nina told me they were serving THREE flavors of wedding cake AND flambe doughnuts, I calmly replied, “Challenge accepted, honey.” And I won that challenge.
