Some love stories unfold in the most unexpected way, and for Delany and Mikey, it was all about patience and timing, which led to a beautiful wedding on Saint Simons Island. Their journey began at the University of South Carolina, where fate first brought them together. Their initial encounter was far from typical–Mikey was in a relationship and battling a case of pinkeye, but Delaney didn’t hesitate to claim ‘dibs’ on him. She patiently waited a full year for Mikey to become single and once they started dating, it was clear that their connection was more than just a fleeting moment.
Delaney knew from the start that Mikey was “the one” for her. Although Mikey was drawn to her beauty, it took him a bit longer to realize she was the one he wanted to spend forever with. That pivotal moment came when Mikey introduced Delaney to his family for the first time. Something shifted in their love story, and Mikey knew without a doubt that Delaney was the person he had been waiting for.
When it came time for Mikey to propose, Delaney couldn’t have imagined a more perfect moment. As they strolled along the serene St. Simons beach, Mikey dropped to one knee and asked Delaney to marry him. When she looked up, she was overjoyed to see they were surrounded by their closest friends and family–just as she had always hoped. With a joyful heart, she, of course, said ‘yes’ and as they say, the rest is history.
Choosing Saint Simons Island as their wedding destination was an easy decision for the couple, as the island holds a special place in their hearts. By hosting their wedding there, they were able to share one of their favorite locations with their closest friends and family, making the celebration of their love story even more memorable.
Delaney began her wedding day at Musgrove Retreat, a gorgeous venue that offered the perfect setting for her to create memories that would last a lifetime. The stunning bay windows and lush gardens provided countless opportunities for breathtaking photos. However, no view could rival the radiance of Delaney as she prepared to meet Mikey.
Delaney selected a stunning gown by Rivini by Rita Vinieris for her special day, complemented by the sophistication of Jimmy Choo shoes and an exquisite long veil. The dress featured an off-the-shoulder lace bodice that seamlessly transitioned into a form-fitting skirt, which gracefully cascaded into a delicate train at her feet. The cathedral veil, enhancing the overall design, added a touch of ethereal beauty to the ensemble. When the blusher was gently placed over her face, Delaney embodied a perfect balance of elegance and mystery, creating a truly unforgettable bridal look.
Choosing to see one another before the wedding ceremony was a personal decision for Delaney and Mikey, and they were eager for a quiet moment together before exchanging vows in front of their loved ones. The majestic live oak trees, draped in Spanish moss, created a romantic, and timeless backdrop for their photos. Every image captured the undeniable love between the couple.
When the bridal party joined the couple for photos the joy was palpable. The deep bonds of friendship between Delaney and Mikey and their attendants were clear in every interaction. Even more heartwarming were the couple’s interactions with their flower girls—-the grooms’ nieces. The love and adoration between the couple and the girls was undeniably special.
The couple chose Forbes Farm on Saint Simons Island for their wedding and reception, a breathtaking location with sweeping marsh views that served as the perfect setting for their ceremony. Surrounded by nature’s beauty, Delaney and Mikey exchanged vows and solidified their commitment to one another.
After the ceremony, guests were treated to a spectacular cocktail party with delicious charcuterie boards. The atmosphere was lively, filled with laughter and the joy of friends and family celebrating the couple’s love. As the guest mingled and toasted to the newlyweds, Delaney and Mikey slipped away for intimate and romantic portraits that captured their love story and radiant love.
The evening continued with even more celebration as Delaney and Mikey slipped away to change into new outfits that were just as stunning as the first. Delaney had a second dress that perfectly complimented her style and desire to have fun at the reception. She explains,
“I had a few ideas of what I thought my wedding dress might look like, but I was most focused on how I felt when I put it on. The dress I ended up choosing looked and felt like it was made for me. I loved the off-the-shoulder cut, but I couldn’t raise my upper arms at all! We actually had our entire first dance choreographed with this in mind. I wanted to have fun and let loose at our reception, so that’s why I chose to go with a second look. It was also a great chance to show off my Jimmy Choo wedding shoes and throw my hair up.”
In keeping with the fun spirit, Mikey joined Delaney in the celebration. She adds,
“Once I decided to change, I wanted to include Mikey in the fun. We found a beautiful maroon velvet tuxedo that matched our wedding colors and his style and surprised everyone on the dance floor together!”
Congratulations Delaney and Mikey, we wish you a lifetime of happiness!
