Every wedding holds meaning, but some feel a little more personal. Photographing my cousin Hope’s wedding was one of those.
For couples planning a celebration in the Southeast, stories like Hope and Collin’s wedding are a great example of how thoughtful details and family ties can shape the entire day. As a Savannah wedding photographer, these are the kinds of weddings that stand out.

Hope and Collin met in college and were later engaged in Orlando, beginning a new season that led to their wedding in Valdosta, Georgia. From the start, their day was centered on family, faith and creating a meaning experience for everyone involved.
One of the most distinctive details was Hope’s engagement ring. Featuring a 2-carat marquise center stone surrounded by smaller diamonds, the design is both bold, unique, and exactly what she wanted. It’s the kind of piece that stands out not just for its size but its individuality.

The ceremony was led by Hope’s grandfather, who has served as a pastor for decades. That alone made it special, but there was another detail that stood out even more.
An altar that has been in Hope’s home for generations was brought to the ceremony. It’s something her father uses daily for prayer, and incorporating into the wedding created a moment that was deeply personal. It is special touches like this that go beyond decor and location to become a special part of their story.

Hope also added her own creative touch to the wedding. She painted floral artwork inspired by the wildflowers in her wedding, displaying the pieces at the venue and later gifting them to friends and family.
It was a simple but meaningful way to thank the people close to them, while adding something personal to the overall design.
Weddings like this are a reminder that the most impactful moments often come from honoring family traditions, creating meaningful details, and allowing the day to reflect who you are.
Whether I’m photographing a wedding in Valdosta or Savannah, those are the moments worth documenting.
