Merging of Culture and Love: Part 2

Apoorva + Patrick’s Indian wedding ceremony took place under a mandap that acted as both the visual centerpiece and the heart of the event. Indian wedding ceremonies unfold in layers—multiple steps, symbolic actions, and involvement from both families.

The couple moved through each part of the ceremony guided by family and tradition. Offerings were placed, knots were tied, and blessings were shared. Around the mandap, guests participated, each in their own way—some emotional, some calm, some quietly capturing the moment on their phones.

What stood out was the love between both families. Their reactions told as much of the story as the ceremony itself. Every detail—color, texture, light—added depth to the photos, making the Indian wedding ceremony a visually and culturally significant moment of their weekend.

Here is more of how Apoorva and Patrick’s love unfolded, told by their friend and officiant Claire.

"Apoorva shared with Patrick how important her family and culture were to her. Patrick, in his most characteristic calm and supportive way, with a side of persistent stubbornness, got right to it.

He started off strong, proudly stating, one night, he could easily handle the spiciest dish Apoorva could order; moments later his head was turned under our faucet gulping water. But that didn’t stop him.

A few months into dating, Patrick took the initiative to set up online video lessons to learn Telugu. It’s quiet acts like these where Patrick shows his love and devotion to Apoorva that reminds her that no matter how difficult the barrier may seem, they can work it out. A year ago, Patrick joined Apoorva on a trip to India to see her family and used his Telugu to speak to her beloved grandmother - a moment Apoorva shares she will hold dearly in her heart forever.

And Patrick loves Apoorva’s pride in her culture. He recounts a moment when they watched the Telegu movie, Anand, together. Although there were no English subtitles, Apoorva eagerly translated the entire three hour movie, line by line, to Patrick, with frequent pause-breaks to look up the actors and directors on Wikipedia and get side tracked with stories of Telugu cinema history
"

We loved capturing not only Apoorva and Patrick's love, but their culture as well.
