A Wedding Trend That’s Here to Stay

One of the most exciting trends in weddings today is the bride party dress–and we are absolutly here for it.

While the ceremony gown holds its place as the timeless, romantic centerpiece of the day, more and more brides are choosing a second look for the reception. The bride party dress brings a fresh energy to the celebration, creating a moment that feels fun, stylish and completely unforgettable.

Lena changed into a tiered mini dress for the reception at Ships of the Sea Maritime Museum, accented with a custom feathered fan.

The appeal is simple: comfort meets personality. After hours spent in a formal gown, many brides are ready to trade layers and structure for something lighter and easier to move in. A bride party dress allows for dancing, mingling, and truly enjoying every moment of the celebration without hesitation.

But beyond comfort, this second look is all about expression. From chic mini dresses to sleek silhouettes, playful fringe, or a touch of sparkle, the bride party dress gives brides the chance to showcase a different side of their style. It often marks a shift—from classic and romantic to bold, modern, and full of life.

Delaney + Mikey both changed into party clothes that complimented their style and desire to have fun at their Forbes Farm reception.

It’s also one of my favorite moments to capture. Guests love the surprise of a second look, and the energy on the dance floor completely transforms. The bride party dress signals that it’s time to celebrate—fully and joyfully. These moments are filled with laughter, movement, and the kind of candid memories that make a wedding day feel truly alive.

More than just a trend, the bride party dress reflects how weddings are evolving. Today’s couples are creating experiences that feel personal and meaningful from beginning to end. Every detail matters, and every moment is an opportunity to tell their story in a way that feels authentic to them.

Siobhan exchanged her gown for a white satin cocktail dress and tennis shoes to enjoy dancing at her Perry Lane reception.

Whether it’s a modern mini, a tailored jumpsuit, or a dress made for dancing, the bride party dress has become a signature part of the celebration. It’s stylish, it’s practical, and it’s undeniably fun—the perfect way to step into the next chapter of the night.
