The Fragrant Garden: A Hidden Gem for Romantic Portraits
One of the best photo locations in Savannah is just off the winding paths of Forsyth Park–the Fragrant Garden. Designed in 1963 as a sensory garden for the visually impaired, its flowers, shrubs and trees were chosen specifically for their scent. Braille markers throughout the space invite guests to slow down and experience the garden in a new way.
For photographers, the beauty begins with the garden’s enclosure. Three whitewashed walls surround the space while the fourth side opens to an ornamental iron fence. The gates–once a part of Savannah’s Old Union Station–frame the entrance and add a unique touch to this hidden corner of the park.
Despite its location in one of Savannah’s busiest locations, the Fragrant Garden is quiet and intimate, making it an ideal photo location to capture your love. For anyone seeking a romantic spot in Savannah with history and beauty, the Fragrant Garden is a hidden gem worth discovering.
