Virginia and Damien’s elopement in Savannah didn’t go exactly as planned. But the end result was nothing short of stunning. What started as a dream for a sunny southern elopement turned into a romantic rainy-day celebration, and perhaps, it was meant to unfold that way all along.
The couple met in college through a mutual friend, and their love quickly grew as they both knew it was something special. Even though Virginia knew a proposal was coming, Damien still managed to surprise her.
He popped the questions at the top of a Ferris wheel in Ocean City, New Jersey. When she said “yes”, he presented her with a custom rose-gold ring featuring a teal sapphire center stone–a piece as unique and vibrant as their love.
Drawn to Savannah’s beauty and rich architecture, Virginia and Damien chose it as the location for their intimate elopement. They envisioned wandering the cobblestone streets and taking portraits framed by the city’s history.
But on the day of their ceremony, just after exchanging vows, a sudden downpour interrupted their plans. Making a quick dash to their historic Airbnb, the newly married couple took shelter and came up with a new plan.
First, they took advantage of some of Savannah’s beautiful indoor locations, such as the Telfair Academy–an art museum inside a historic mansion. After enjoying the quiet reprieve, and the museum, the rain had passed, and Savannah revealed a new side to herself. The city glistened–the trees were greener, the buildings richer in color, and everything seemed to glow.
Virginia’s dress and bouquet were beautiful against the vibrant backdrops. The rain added a layer of romance, and spontaneity, which turned their wedding photos into works of art. Every image reflects their joy and love.
Congratulations Virginia and Damien. We wish you a lifetime of happiness.
