If you’re looking for the perfect wedding venue on the Georgia coast, put Forbes Farm on St. Simons Island on your list!
With an understated elegance, this venue offers a foundation of coastal beauty and classic grace on which you can curate the perfect wedding day.
As you enter the property, you’ll drive up the long drive and circle under the wood-beamed portico (which is the perfect spot for your end-of-night exit.)
Indoors, you’ll find a large space with walls of windows. Beautifully hand-hewn exposed beams and simple chandeliers lit by candle tapers draw your eye to the high, white ceiling. On one end you’ll find a hallway leading beautifully appointed restrooms. On the other, you’ll find the stage and large dance floor. There’s a built-in bar to serve your guests and the perfect spot to display your wedding cake. The room is designed with excellent acoustics and is a beautiful visual canvas on which to design the day of your dreams.
Forbes has a pretty, light and airy space for the bride and her bridesmaids. And the guys have a large, wood-paneled room with velvet sofa, leather club chairs and a wall-mounted TV (in case there’s a game going on!)
As a photographer, these are the top things I love about Forbes Farm:
It’s an all-in-one space that is perfect for every part of your day. The wedding party and family have beautiful spaces for getting ready and hanging out, perfect for those pre-ceremony photos. Outdoors there are beautiful spaces for your ceremony and cocktail hour. Inside you’ll find expansive space for hosting dinner and dancing. (No tables crowding the dance floor here.) With an all-inclusive venue, you won’t expend time and stress rounding up everyone, waiting for the late comers, driving, trying to find a place to park, etc. Instead, you can relax and enjoy every beautiful moment of your day.
Forbes has beautiful spots for photos. At sunset, the light comes streaming through the maritime forest surrounding the property. There’s a spot perfect for post-ceremony photos. It’s off to the left if you are facing the front of the main building. First, as wedding party and family exit the ceremony, they’ll walk down the aisle straight to this spot, while guests go in a different direction to cocktail hour. As I place people for photos, the sunlight streaming through the forest behind them will create a beautiful backdrop. And the long white drive on which people stand bounces light onto their faces. Fabulous!
When you go indoors, you’ll find a bright, light elegant space. Depending on your event time, you’ll dance your first dance while the setting sun streams in. And then after dark, I’ll set up my off-camera lights. And with the white walls and ceiling, my flashes will create clean, soft light without the color casts and light absorption that can come from walls that aren’t white.
The owners created this space with careful intention. They thought about the needs and desires of the couples they serve. They also thought about the other vendors that support weddings, including caterers and musicians, who obviously have unique needs that when met, allow them to do the very best for our couples.
